I'm an amateur guitarist, writer and arguer. I'm a Buddhist, one of the few non-Chinese devotees of the Fo Guang Shan order, within the Chinese Mahayana tradition, although I'm seriously considering moving to a different tradition, like Nichiren.

I am a serious practicioner of aikido, in the Tomiki-Geis lineage. I also practice Shinto Muso Ryu jodo, Muso-Shinden-Ryu iaido, and kendo (I don't get to practice kendo so much these days, but I do try to keep up on it).

Today in our deep samsara, much is made of the combative aspect of the martial arts. But far removed from that, I believe as Morihei Ueshiba (O-Sensei) did, that a person can find enlightenment and full realization through the diligent practice of the budo, and that the budo can be used as a way toward reconciliation, if practiced from a place of purity.
